Scarecrow Contest
October 5th - 30th
Local youth groups have been hard at work preparing scarecrows to be displayed at over 25 businesses in the village. Families are invited to stroll through the streets of Hamburg to view and judge the best looking scarecrow. The scarecrow contest runs October 9th through October 30th and is sponsored by the Village Business Advisory Council (VBAC). A map of participating businesses, as well as entry forms for the contest, are located at Main Street Ice Cream (35 Main Street) and Monroe's Place (182 Lake Street). Prizes for the top three scarecrows will be awarded to the youth groups who made them.
Apple Launch
October 15th, 22th and 29th
For three Saturdays in October, from 10am until noon, you'll have your chance to launch an apple with a giant sling shot and hit the target in Overlook Park (corner of Main and Buffalo Streets). Cost is $1.00 for three apples, with all proceeds benefiting a local charity.
Scavenger Hunt
October 22nd
Our 2nd annual Scavenger Hunt starts and ends at Overlook Park (corner of Main and Buffalo Streets). Receive a list of items to look for and walk the Village to find them. Prizes will be given out. Pre-register and pay before October 22nd at Main Street Ice Cream (35 Main Street) and receive extra points. Dress in a Halloween costume the day of the event and receive 10 extra points. Cost is $10.00 for a team of up to 4 people. Sign up starts at 2:30, the hunt runs from 3:00 - 5:00pm. Event happens rain or shine.
Light Up the Overlook
October 22nd
On October 22nd, young pumpkin artists are invited to show off their creations at our ‘Light up the Overlook’ event. We'll gather at 7:30pm at the Overlook at Centennial Park, near the corner of Main and Buffalo Streets. Children are encouraged to dress in costume and to bring their pre-cut pumpkins to be lit simultaneously at dusk. Goodie bags will also be given to those who bring a carved pumpkin. This is a free event.
"Hamburg Bites" Progressive Dinner
October 27th
Enjoy some of our Village treasures with a progressive dinner. Start out with soup and salad, move on to two main course sample dishes, then treat yourself to a dessert and a beverage. Choose the participating establishments you want to eat at and walk the Village to each course selection. This event runs from 5:00pm – 9:00pm and the cost is just $25.00 per person. NOTE: This is a pre-sale only event. Purchase tickets at Main Street Ice Cream (35 Main Street) or Comfort Zone Cafe (17 Main Street). Proceeds go to Hamburg Domestic Violence. Also, participating retail merchants will be open late with “Hamburg Bites” specials, so take this opportunity to get a head start on your holiday shopping!
53rd Annual Halloween Parade
October 29th
Finish off the Hamburg Halloween season with the 53rd annual Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 29th at 2pm. Those wishing to march should meet in costume at the municipal parking lot off Main Street/Union Street by 1:45pm. The parade will finish at Memorial Park where children can enjoy activities and snacks. This event is free and is sponsored by the Hamburg Recreation Department and the Kiwanis Club. Event happens rain or shine.
